The She Leads – Climatic Peace program is a regional initiative designed to strengthen feminist leadership in climate action across the MENA region. Taking place in Cairo and Algiers in July 2025, it will bring together participants and nine speakers from nine countries to explore the intersection of gender, climate change, and peacebuilding.
The Virtual Phase equips participants with knowledge on climate change through a feminist lens, eco-feminism, and the gendered impacts of climate crises on health, food security, water, and migration. Sessions also cover women-led adaptation initiatives, power dynamics in climate governance, barriers to women’s representation, and strategies for inclusive climate policies. Specialized modules address gender-based violence in the context of climate stress, as well as financing gender-responsive climate initiatives, project proposal design, and advocacy strategies. Activities such as simulations, storytelling, policy analysis, debates, and flash proposal pitching make learning interactive and practical.
The In-person Phase emphasizes action. Day 1 includes feminist leadership panels, skills in climate storytelling, community engagement, policy research, and project management with gender-sensitive indicators, complemented by cultural exchange. Day 2 focuses on The Project Lab, where participants finalize proposals with mentorship and present their work in pitching demos.
This program fosters inclusive, sustainable climate leadership for the region.
