Empowering Youth for a Healthy Climate Initiative Trains 50 Young Healthcare Providers in Cairo

Cairo, Egypt – The Empowering Youth for a Healthy Climate Initiative successfully brought together 50 young healthcare providers in Cairo for an intensive three-day training program focused on the critical intersection between climate change and public health.

Implemented in partnership with Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the World Health Organization (WHO), the initiative aimed to strengthen the capacity of young health professionals to respond to climate-related health challenges within their communities.

The program combined interactive workshops, expert-led discussions, and hands-on project development sessions to deepen participants’ understanding of how climate change affects public health outcomes. Throughout the training, attendees explored topics such as climate-sensitive diseases, heat stress, environmental health risks, and community resilience strategies.

A key component of the initiative was its focus on action-oriented learning. Participants worked in teams to design innovative, community-based solutions addressing climate-driven health risks. The program concluded with a competitive pitch session, where selected initiatives were awarded funding to support the implementation of their projects.

The initiative reflects a shared commitment among partners to empower youth as frontline advocates and innovators in climate and health. By equipping young healthcare providers with practical skills and leadership tools, the program contributes to building stronger, more climate-resilient communities across Egypt.
