September 27-29, 2024 – Jordan
The Climatic Peace Foundation played an active role in the Regional Conference of Youth (RCOY) for the MENA region, held in Jordan from September 27 to 29, 2024. Representing the foundation, Mr. Abdelmalik, Media Manager at Climatic Peace, participated in the conference, which gathered young climate advocates from across the Arab world for a transformative three-day event.
During RCOY, Mr. Abdelmalik attended numerous seminars and workshops that delved into the unique challenges of implementing climate action in regions affected by conflict and turmoil. He highlighted the urgent need to integrate environmental and climate concerns into peace negotiations and initiatives across the Arab world. His remarks underscored the importance of addressing climate issues as a key component of sustainable peacebuilding, particularly in areas where climate vulnerability exacerbates existing social and political tensions.
The conference fostered essential discussions and idea exchanges, emphasizing the role of youth in creating sustainable solutions despite challenging environments. For Climatic Peace, RCOY MENA was a platform not only for networking but also for advancing the message that environmental and climate stability are integral to long-term peace in the region. This event underscored the critical role of young advocates in addressing the climate crisis and working toward a sustainable and peaceful future.
